Perplexity Computer
Companies & PlatformsA multi-model agentic AI system by Perplexity that orchestrates 19 AI models to autonomously execute complex, long-running workflows — from research to code to media generation — in isolated compute environments.
Like hiring a project manager who delegates to 19 specialists - you describe the goal, it figures out who does what.
Perplexity Computer is not a physical device. It is a cloud-based multi-agent orchestration platform launched by Perplexity on February 25, 2026. The company describes it as a general-purpose digital worker that can break high-level goals into subtasks, assign each to the most suitable AI model, and execute entire workflows autonomously in the background.
Architecture
Computer coordinates 19 different AI models, each selected for a specific capability. Claude Opus 4.6 serves as the core reasoning engine. Gemini handles deep research and spawns sub-agents. Nano Banana generates images. Veo 3.1 produces video. Grok handles lightweight speed-sensitive tasks. ChatGPT 5.2 provides long-context recall and broad search. The system routes each subtask to the model best suited for it rather than relying on a single model for everything.
Every task runs in an isolated compute environment with access to a real filesystem, a real browser, and real tool integrations. This means Computer can browse the web, write and execute code, manage files, and interact with external services — not just generate text.
How It Works
A user describes a desired outcome — for example, "plan a weeklong trip to Japan, find flights under $1,200, and build a full itinerary with restaurant reservations" — and Computer autonomously decomposes the project into components, assigns each to the right model, and works on it in the background. Workflows can run for hours or even months, with the user checking in on progress rather than supervising each step.
Pricing and Availability
Computer is available exclusively to Perplexity Max subscribers at $200/month. Max subscribers receive 10,000 credits per month, with a one-time bonus of 20,000 additional credits at signup (expiring after 30 days). A rollout to Pro and Enterprise tiers is planned.
Samsung Integration
Samsung announced that Perplexity will be integrated into upcoming Galaxy S26 phones, accessible via "Hey Plex" voice activation alongside Google's Gemini Assistant.
Perplexity Computer represents a shift from single-model chat interfaces to multi-model orchestration systems where the AI layer decides which model to use for each part of a task — a pattern that may define the next generation of consumer AI products.
